Wikipedia can be trusted when the information on it come from a reliable source and not just some person writing what their opinion is.
ReplyDeleteInternet sources that I trust are usually sources that I go through through the search engines on the Evans library site.
I trust these sites because they are sites that the librarians have set up for us to use effectively and for us to get good information from.
Wikipedia can only be trusted only under certain circumstances, and that is only if the source is reliable and cited properly. The information can not be someone's opinion. The writing must be certified.
ReplyDeleteAn Internet source that i trust is Yahoo. I use yahoo daily, looking up weather, sports and entertainment. If i am working on a project i will use the resources available through College Library Search Engines including FMCC's and Syracuse etc.. Professionals have put the cites needed for papers and proper study guides.
I trust the cites included because they are constantly updated by professionals. They have been set up for effective and proper use by students.

I have too say I have ued wikipedia many times thinking that it was a very trustworthy site, until this article. Now Im mot so sure what to really trust, between what I learned last week in class and this article reinterates it, I need to have many sources not just one. Wikipedia and other sites need to be reliable.
ReplyDeleteI also use yahoo.com for many things including weather, mail and etc. This is one of the only sites that I reall ever use. But I belive that I need to use the library and its resources before jumping on the internet. I trust the site yahoo.com because many people do use it.
